Game of the Year: Aaron's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

Our wonderful staff of authors is able to offer their own 2023 PS5 and PS4 selections in our individual Game of the Year articles. Aaron Bayne, a video producer, is up next.

5. The Diablo 4

Diablo IV

In 2023, Diablo 4 satisfied my need to level up after playing the Diablo series for the first time. It had an enjoyable gameplay cycle and a character that kept getting better. Although I haven't played it nearly as often as I would have wanted, I have found that it's a great way to unwind before bed with my PS Portal. Last year, my online activities were mostly occupied by my infrequent sessions with friends.

4. Avatar: Pandora's Frontiers

Avatar

This shouldn't really surprise me as the resident Avatar person at Push Square, but I had a great fun playing this game. It's undeniably one of the most visually stunning PS5 games available, but oddly, the completion of the game took a more organic approach. Even while I admit to loving some Ubisoft checklisting, it still manages to bring everything together in a manner that makes you want to go even further into the environment. Additionally, I think a fully explorable Pandora in a video game is a match made in heaven.

3. The Championship

The Championship Round

This one truly surprised me, but it did so after The Game's shadow drop.I could not get enough of the USG Ishimura, and I will never forget the rush I had from pushing into the next terrifying part of the ship.

1. Alan Wake II

Alan Wake II

A game including a suspenseful murder mystery and elements of True Detective would undoubtedly rank highly in my list. Even yet, Alan Wake 2 completely amazed me. I've never played a game with such precise guidance, and Remedy's unique aesthetic made it impossible for me to put the controller down. Ever since, I've also been contemplating that conclusion, and I'm eager to explore New Game+ and the next DLC.

Zenless Zone Zero Does Not Feel Like a Gacha Game

Before the official debut of the game, in late November 2023, the Zenless Zone Zero closed beta allowed me to explore the land of New Eridu. It's a promising game that deviates from the HoYoVerse gacha game model that most gamers are undoubtedly acquainted with, even though there are still some shaky areas.

Microsoft releases downloadable tool to fix phantom HP printer installations

Microsoft revealed a strange printer flaw earlier this month that was impacting select users of Windows 10, Windows 11, and other Windows Server products. Even though the affected PCs weren't really running any HP printers, they seemed to have one installed, often an HP LaserJet M101-M106. This problem also recommended the download of an HP Smart printer program from the Microsoft Store, potentially overwriting the settings for whatever printer the user truly had installed. Microsoft made it apparent that HP was not to blame for the issue, but it has yet to disclose the underlying source of the problem. For those whose PCs were impacted by the flaw, the business has since provided a remedy; however, as of this writing, Users must download and utilize a specialized troubleshooting tool from Microsoft's support website in order to proceed.
